This Privacy Policy describes how StenoTyper ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with our desktop application (the "Application"). This policy is issued in compliance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and other applicable data protection laws.

StenoTyper is operated by vCraft, located in Singapore.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

StenoTyper is designed with privacy as a fundamental principle. The Application does not collect, process, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically, we do NOT collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Usage data or analytics
• Device information or identifiers
• Location data
• Notes, messages, or any content you create within the Application
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Cookies or tracking technologies
• Any other form of personal or non-personal data

3. How Your Data Is Stored

All data generated within the Application is stored locally on your device using SQLite database technology. The data storage locations are:

• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/stenotyper
• Windows: %APPDATA%\stenotyper
• Linux: ~/.local/share/stenotyper

This data never leaves your device. You have complete control over this data, including the ability to back it up, delete it, or transfer it as you see fit.

4. Third-Party Services

StenoTyper does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or external APIs that would collect or process your data.

4.1 Optional Local AI Integration

The Application includes an optional integration with Ollama, a local AI model that runs entirely on your device. When you choose to use this feature:

• All AI processing occurs locally on your machine
• No data is sent to external AI services or servers
• You control which Ollama models to install and use
• This feature is completely optional and disabled by default

5. Data Security

Since all data remains on your local device, the security of your data depends primarily on the security measures you implement for your device, including:

• Operating system security settings and updates
• Device encryption (FileVault, BitLocker, etc.)
• User account passwords and authentication
• Physical security of your device

We recommend following your operating system vendor's security best practices to protect your device and data.

6. Children's Privacy

StenoTyper is designed for professional use in business environments. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Since no data is transmitted from the Application, there is no risk of children's data being collected by us.

7. Your Rights Under Singapore PDPA

Under the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012, individuals have certain rights regarding their personal data. However, since StenoTyper does not collect or process any personal data:

• Right of Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible to you at all times
• Right to Correction: You can modify or correct your data directly within the Application
• Right to Deletion: You can delete your data through the Application or by removing the application files
• Right to Data Portability: You have direct access to your SQLite database files and can export or transfer them

8. International Users

StenoTyper can be used globally. Since all data remains on your local device and is not transmitted to any servers, there are no international data transfers. Your data stays within the jurisdiction where your device is located.

9. Software Updates

When you check for software updates, the Application may connect to download update information. This connection is made through your operating system's standard update mechanisms and does not transmit any personal data or usage information about you or your notes.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

If we make material changes that affect how we handle data (though we anticipate no such changes given our local-only architecture), we will notify users through the Application or other appropriate means.

11. Open Source and Transparency

StenoTyper is built with transparency in mind. You can review our application's architecture and data handling practices. We encourage technically inclined users to verify our privacy claims.

13. Governing Law

By using StenoTyper, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Given that we do not collect any personal data, your consent relates primarily to your understanding of how the Application stores data locally on your device.
